11 Dec 2011
An early December 2011 storm brought wind and cold to the Eastern Sierra without snow, resulting in a frozen-lakes landscape without the usually accompanying white mountain landscape. The missing snows also allowed the roads to stay open, bringing locals and visitors out to enjoy playtime on the frozen lakes. This image captures some of the winter fun - skating, hockey, dogs, and such on June Lakes Loop's Silver Lake, in place of the fishermen and kayaking/canoeing that was on the waters only a couple months ago.
