Exploring The Glear:

The ancient watercourse called The Glear is an old channel of the Maranoa River that flows south then crosses the present Balonne River south of St George, then meanders near Doondi before heading south east towards the Moonie River floodplain. But today the water carried by The Glear in its western section courses southward as Back Creek. It flows into Beardie Lagoon then connects with the Culgoa River floods via this channel, a channel that has been excavated to provide irrigation water supply from the Culgoa River.

Thank you Berend. I've been out enjoying the country after recent good rains and two summers of floods in 2009-10 and 2010-11.

New year greetings from the Inland.

Ian...Hard to believe this is the outback. It looks coastal with that much vegetation!
