"Steel Life" Harahan Railway Bridge - 1916

The Harahan Bridge ( 1916). Spans over Mississippi River from Arkansas to Memphis, Tennessee.
These are actually 2 separate bridges, one for train and one for cars. It is about 5,000 ft long. Named after the president of the railroad company Rock Island, who was killed in a car accident, as the bridge was under construction. His car was hit by a train!
There is now a newer bridge in Memphis, about 1 mile north of this one on Rte 40.
