het bergkwartier, an area of the dutch city of deventer and one of the best preserved medieval neigbourhoods in the netherlands. the church on the top of the hill dates from 15th century except for the twin towers which belong to an early 13th century predecessor. the building now houses an art gallery.

A very picturesque setting, very medieval. You captured this feeling very well. Like!

Best regards,

Michael

Thanks :) There were plans in the 1970's to destroy the entire neighbourhood. Luckily it was chosen instead to restore and repair the ancient houses, resulting in one of the prettiest and best preserved Medieval neighbourhoods in the Netherlands. Having lived in Belgium for the past 4 years, I know all too well what the fate of such historical places can be when there is no heart for history in the local population.
