them monks were good artists, but you is a better photygrapher, love the shabby-chic tones here, wonder if dulux do that colour?

Lovely picture Amelia. I visited there in 2006. This reminds me of Lacock Abbey where I visited recently. Like.

The cloisters are always my fave spot in a cathedral, simply because of shots like this...the perspective and the ceilings are just wonderful, those murals look old...cool shot Amelia LIKE

Cloisters are an interesting part for long perspectives. Very nice, Amelia.

Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, MAN

Maybe I should post a couple of photos on this cloister wall Bonnie Lad just to please the abbot ;-)

If I scrape a bit of the paint off the walls I'm sure Dulux will oblige :))

Ca canny noo, Amelia

Lee Gill on January 12, 2012

LMAO, you crack me up Amelia...I can just see you now getting whisked away by the abbott for trying to take paint samples for testing, lol...you can blame me, he'll never find me, lol ;-)

Oh this one must viewed in full! The ceilings are so beautiful. The murals seem to suffer from the "Second Law of Thermodynamics" but are still looking pretty.

Best wishes, Erik

Thank you dear Rosa. I hope to visit Norwich Cathedral and the city again when the weather is a bit better. I was most impressed by the area :))

Amelia Royan on January 12, 2012

Good evening Mick, and thank you for your compliment.

My best wishes go to you and yours for 2012.

Thank you dear Karl. I love the word 'endlessly'. You have hit the nail on the head - the cloisters seem to go on for ever!

Herzlichen Gruß, Amelia

Many thanks Lee. I can understand what you say, and I feel that the cloisters are perhaps the best place for quiet contemplation and meditation. I don't know much about the murals - yet!

Cheers, Amelia

Good evening MAN, and thank you. This is the first time that I've visited Norwich cathedral and hopefully it won't be the last. I loved this cathedral!

Best wishes to Rio de Janeiro from the UK, Amelia

Unfortunately Lee, I am now in handcuffs, and so am unable to send the paint samples to Dulux! If you are interested in shabby chic for your bedroom perhaps, I have left the paint 'scrapings' behind the third pillar form the right. Good luck :))

Amelia Royan on January 12, 2012

Dear Erik, the custodians of the paintwork in the cloisters have taken note of your comment, and are now looking into X = U - TR S + pR V - \sum \mu{iR} Ni, in order to protect against the effects of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. They have asked me to thank you personally for your excellent advice ;-)

Groetjes, Amelia

Erik van den Ham on January 13, 2012

Hello Amelia I'm not so sure if that formula will work. I chemically analysed some of the paint scrapings you left behind the third pillar and after a long search found the right paint for the job..

Limited time offer!

Amelia Royan on January 13, 2012

Excellent work there Erik. The custodians have sent the 5 year contract conditions for you to sign. They should be with you by carrier pigeon in a few days. I would strongly advise you to order the full complement of Pantone colours as soon as possible, bearing in mind that the cloisters are on 3 sides surrounding an open square lawn with a maze. Maps will be provided for you in case you get lost.

You will of course have accommodation in the way of a monk's cell. Breakfast, only bread and water I'm afraid, will be available to you; and you will have free entrance at any time into the main cathedral as payment. This is an offer that you cannot afford to refuse.

Good morning A.Yepi, and thank you for your lovely compliment. This really is a beautiful English cathedral :))

Friendly greetings, Amelia

Aha! It is good to see that your style of banter is not limited to a certain Mistress Mydleton! Somehow, I can imagine you a strict disciplinarian keeping all those wayward monks in order...

Back to the photo though, we have been to Norwich Cathedral a number of times but for the life of me, I can't remember ever seeing these murals... Thanks for filling in my blind spot!

Cheers

Steve
