Martyr’s Statue - 1971, Yellow Fever Memorial (Memphis 1878)

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Yellow fever epidemic nearly destroyed Memphis in 1878.

Of the 19,000 who did not flee the worst epidemic, almost 80% caught the fever and 25% died.

Statue at Martyr’s Park to honor those, who died helping yellow fever victims.

Just few meters away are 10 large houses, with a great view overlooking Mississippi River!

They must have bribed someone as this area is otherwise a parkland!
