Dear Mr. Wardecker,

phonetically you may be right. As you surely know, the Count of Waldeck and Pyrmont sold a regiment of soldiers to the British Crown in 1776. They had to participate involuntarily in the American Independence War of 1775-1783. The German Wikipedia becomes more explicit on the destiny of the "Hassians": Many of them left their troops to fight on the other side and stayed in Canada or the U.S. For a similar text in English look here
