Very appealing light-play abstract. Nice work.
Thanks Penny! Its a fascinating sculpture. One could spend hours, in all seasons and all times of day, capturing the constant changes to the reflections it provides. The view up underneath the Bean is almost like being in the middle of a kaleidoscope. Great fun!
WOW I want to go there......this is an amazing one. :-)
that's really fascinating. The image looks fine, but my imagination was not good enough to figure out what it looks likein real life. I tried to Google it - is this from inside? Iguess I have to get to Chicago one of these days and experience it myself.
Best wishes, Timo
Hi Tery, Di, and Timo - we thanks you! ;) (I'm feeling too lazy to re-sign-in...)
It's sure worth a visit Di! But if you make it there, there sure are a lot of other spots in North America you've got to see!
Thanks Timo! The catch about seeing the underside is that because of the curved reflective surfaces that reflect and reflect on each other, it's seems impossible to get a photo that really shows the shape! You can see some of the surfaces curving up in the inside, sort of forming a tube that terminates in the flat circular panel in the center of the photo. It's rather anatomical....This sculpture website has some good information and photos of it.
But yup, you guessed it: you rally have to go there and see it yourself. And bring lots of memory cards!
I have to add this to my next trip to the Windy City!
Thanks for the link k it is truly amazing. I really cant see us getting over there, but one has to dream, maybe lotto tomorrow night....:-)
Bits this looks so great on a full computer screen!!
Thanks Tery! Lol, this little photo sure appreciated the comment after its neighbor started getting everyone else's attention!
Interesting shot. All the distortion created from a polished surface
gives it a surreal effect. Well done.
Hi geomancer - Thanks! The view up when under the Bean is definitely surreal!
Thanks Konstantin. Cheers.
Absolutely fascinating. L !
Thanks so much bob/vivalafantasia and eva! Eva, it's well worth a trip to visit this sculpture. It's quite a challenge to capture it photographically!
