Cylindrical panorama, 2936 x 2665 px, 110 x 80 degrees. Taken 2012-01-15 at 12:57-8. First snow that stuck this winter. On the 5th we had a pineapple express bringing moisture up from Hawaii that was quite visible in GOES satellite images at 1 km altitude. On the 7th the high for the day was 50 F (10 C) at 19:53. And 8 days later we had this. The Arctic Polar Vortex was strong, keeping the cold air bottled up, something which only the year before had largely precipitated the creation of an ozone hole that in the northern hemisphere will bounce around, and actually dipped further south than Seattle. But this time it broke down, at least temporarily, spilling cold air into the lower latitudes.
