Bruce - Thanks for the wonderful comments. The sun dog is the first I ever recall seeing and it was such a surprise. It was all I could do to get the car stopped and parked and jump out to start taking pictures. I didn't want this one to get away. Luckily it lasted a long time. Oh, see Dann's message above. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Dann - We could probably settle for a big dust devil. Just paste it into one of your clouds, photoshop up some colors and there you go. Just a thought.
