Hi Marilyn, that is true. The cart is empty. These shopping centers and malls are always like a bunker for me. Only one floor. And no windows.

Greetings,

Carsten

I find them real blights on the urban landscape, but when we were on our way to a restaurant for lunch, I noticed the blue cart. I wanted to photograph the raging storm but knew I'd need some colourful foreground interest, so after lunch we returned. (Zoom in on the picture, and the snow will show you which way the wind was blowing.)

Cheers, Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, I did zoom in and it is amazing. I turn on the heat right now. And in the enlarged version the backlights of the driving car can be seen very good. One of the rare colours beside the cart. It is a situation where nobody really wants to go out. OK, if you are hungry it is something else. Very good photo.

Greetings,

Carsten

Hallo Marilyn, even I saw in TV of a lot of snow in your region. I hope, you have a warm home. Greetings, Roland

Thanks, Jacques, for your comment and the star. And yes, Roland, the snow stopped for a while and started again! But our house is warm, and I'm staying in today! Greetings, Marilyn

Thank you, Arthur. It's not a typical shot for me, but it's good to try something different!

I'm glad you enjoyed it Alex! There's no such problem now: the snow is all gone, alas. Our winters look much better when there's snow, so I hope it will return.

This is my first day as a Garmin user and of course I had to look up Guelph as my husband grew up there. It's great to find so many photos of a beautiful place. I'd trade it any day for where I live.

Marilyn Whiteley, on January 3, 2009, said:

Thanks for your comment, copper. Guelph is usually a much more inviting place than it was on this day!

I remember this photo, I still love it! Great entry Marilyn!

Marilyn Whiteley, on April 1, said:

Thanks. I envy those who have gorgeous, dramatic shots to enter. I have one or two that head in that direction, but I'll go with a lighter touch. This is more distinctive!

"The True North, strong and free..."? You Canadians are wimping out on us! :-D Keep the malls open no matter what!

The blue is amazingly striking - it provides a knockout blow of color in that monochromatic universe.

Hey, Bruce! The mall was open and some people were shopping ...just not as many as usual.

That striking blue is why I trudged through the snowstorm to this point of view. It was just too good to miss!

Marilyn Its not to you look at the large version that you realise how bad the weather really is. In the smaller version you dont notice it is snowing as hard as it is dont blame you t all for wanting to stay indoor. Goodluck in the NPC Chris

VKeith, on April 12, said:

Humorous shot, Marilyn! I love the choice of the shopping cart to illustrate the 'attitude' toward the weather.

Marilyn Whiteley, on April 12, said:

Thanks, Chris and VKeith, for stopping by and enjoying the Canadian winter (without having to venture out into it!). I hope it's all right to inject a light, even humorous view into the NPC! Marilyn
