Very colorful! I wonder how high the electricity bill might be?! What building is this?

Greetings, Xenia

Greetings Xenia, Thanks you for visiting and Merry Christmas! This is the City and County Building in Denver, Colorado. They decorate and run the lights for December and January each year. I have no idea what the costs are, but the residents and tourists love them. We were just down there an hour ago so you are the first to see them. Thank you for visiting and your wonderful comment.

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Richard, this must be really expensive. I think they hired just a few guys to control the light. It is amazing. What a colour combination.

Greetings,

Carsten

Very impressive, Richard. Well, we can't keep up with our Capitol of Switzerland.

Greetings Carsten, Polytropos, Sonny, Gabri Gibra And Kojak, Thank you for visiting my Christmas Card. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all.

Carsten - The City and County of Denver were going to stop putting up the lights because it was to expensive. The community stepped in and now pays for the maintenance. City workers put them up each year. A story of everyone working together to preserve a part of history.

Polytropos - Wow, your display puts mine to shame. Now I have to decide whether to keep my post up or withdraw it. I feel so trumped. ;-(

Sonny - They put the lights up and have a big lighting ceremony. They even have two days of night Christmas Parades where everyone wears Christmas lights. They call it the parade of lights and get several hundred thousand visitors each night.

Gabri Gibra - It is beautiful isn't it. The children just love it.

Kojak - Glad you like it. The volunteers and city try to do a really good job each year.

Merry Christmas!!

Cheers,

Rich

Wow Rich! This is probably the most colorful building I've ever seen! Denver really goes all out. You have captured all the colors and the huge size of the building wonderfully! Great Christmas card!

Merry Christmas to you and your family too!

Greetings Pam, YBMW, DeEtte, Marilyn and SarpBKS, Thank you for visiting my Christmas Card. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Pam - The lights are a long standing tradition and are never exactly the same year to year. Very pretty and the kids love it.

YBMW - Glad you like the colors. It is kind of festive.

DeEtte - I don't know if they feel they are in competition with anyone else, but it has been the same display for decades. It almost went away but volunteers and sponsors stepped in to keep the tradition alive.

Marilyn - They got carried away some 50 years ago and maxed out the number of places they could put lights. So this is as big as it gets. Whew ;-))

SarpBKS - Thanks so much.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and to all a safe and happy holiday season.

Cheers,

Rich
