I'm pleased to hear it Nawitka. What the pic can't convey is the noise the crash made!

It was a rare opportunity. Lucky I was invited to the show!

I meant that sign really. The train was never going to be a match for a 15" thick Magnox flask was it?
purdey12345, on August 12, 2008, said:
Absolutely right. The integrity of the flask had been successfully proved by dropping it onto concrete from a great height thus subjecting it to far greater loads than would occur by crashing a train into it but the 'Nuclear power? no thanks!' lobby insisted that only replicating the worst case scenario would go anywhere near convincing them the flasks were safe, hence this circus. Group 4 were there to keep the wackos out, which they did despite a pathetic attempt at a demonstration.
actongrumpy, on August 13, 2008, said:
From memory, the flask was square on to the train whereas,in the drop test at Cheddar Gorge, the flask was corner-on when it hit the concrete. The engineer spectators used to complain that they were lifted out of their seats when the flask struck. The French electricity utilities are 95% Nuclear but I don't remember them ramming as much as a 2CV in to their flasks!

The flask was at an angle of about 45° as this shot shows. I've got a few more shots of the aftermath of the crash. If you want to see them let me know.

I'd love to see the aftermath. how did Group4 get in on the act?
purdey12345, on August 31, said:
Group 4 provided site security. There was a small anti-nuclear demo otherwise no problems. I've put the full set of shots up now so go here for the next in the sequence. Each photo has a link to the next one.
