It's great to see a bit of history here Linrich. He was one of the great explorers of his time. Do you know where the other replica of The Endeavour is?

Cheers, Amelia

A most familiar ship Richard..I remember this being built way back in the 1980's and was towed to this position long before the Tees-side barrage was built..The sponsor was a local business man who has or had premises adjacent to her present mooring at Castlegate wharf..

This Endeavour is built from sheet steel on a steel frame and as you probably know, is not seaworthy!

Still, it makes a pretty picture here since the wharf was a busy port at the time of Cook and many similar vessels would have moored on this very spot!

The other full size replica is currently moored in Hobart..

Kind regards!

The other Endeavour was built in my home state, West Australia, under the auspices of the tycoon Alan Bond, who brought the America's Cup to Australia. Back in the crazy '80s when money seemed to be growing on trees around here..well, for some, Bondy got the replica up and sailing. Bond has since had his huge ups and downs, but the near-exact replica of the Endeavour is still out there under other ownership. Long may she sail.

One build in your home state Jock and this one moored few miles from where i live, it's a small world..Cheers Richard
