Wild Toronto, Canadian Icon - Save a tree; kill a beaver! ;-) - Thanks Oldo for the nice ecological motto!

Canadian Beaver (Castor canadensis), is getting more and more established in the city parks! This one is not shy at all. I was probably 6-8 meters away, as he was chewing on the tree branch. Sometimes the tree they pick is 25 cm in diameter. In some parks they do quite a damage!

Colonel Samuel Smith park, on the lake, is known for many bird species. The day, I was there, I have seen an Arctic Owl, apparently very rare, this far south. I have only seen it to fly away!

Beaver is on Canadian nickel ($0.05) even when somebody described it as

a overgrown, dentally challenged rat!, it is a protected animal in Toronto.
