Wild Toronto, 2012 $The Year of the Lapdance.$

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The Zanzibar Tavern is celebrating its 50th anniversary as one of Toronto’s wildest strip club. The occupation of stripper is becoming an endangered career choice. Apparently the stripping business isn’t as lucrative, as it once was, having to compete with all the stuff on Internet. The number of registered strippers has dropped to 1,254 in 2011 from 2,834 in 1998.

This club is there since I came to Toronto.

In my neighbourhood, 3 strip clubs closed in the last few years.

One on the main street, is still surviving! But the parking lot is quite empty.

No, I am not complaining...;-)

Interesting factoids Tom, I wrongly thought that only the stripper industry and funeral homes are recession-proof. I got a kick out the buisnesses to the left of the Zanzibar. I get that a waffle house would be owned by a Wanda, but an Indian restaurant owned by a Joe. Can't make this stuff up.:) Thanks for the grins, Michael

Good observation! We have a lot of indian population in the ciry, but I have yet to meet one called Joe!! ;-)

Wanda, may have work next door at one point!

I have not been to a strip bar since I went to college. I better take some photos from "House of Lancaster**, nearby where I live, before it goes under!
