The Dalmunzie 2 foot 6 inch guage private railway was built in 1920 for carrying quarried stone and shooting parties. It was closed in 1978, but the trackbed remains.

I was just wondering if there was a road nearby to this trackbed?

On google maps(where i found this photo) it shows a road however I am concerned that it isnt in fact one but just this railway line. Plus if there is a road do you know the quality of it? Is it tarmac or stone? The reason I want to know is that I would like to cycle on it with a road bike and certainly wouldnt want to cycle there only to find its not suitable!

Many thanks.

The Google maps road is a track for 4-wheel drive vehicles, nearby on the south side of the Glen Lochsie burn. It would be fine for a mountain bike, and goes on beyond the Glen Lochsie Lodge ruin, almost to the summit of Glas Tulaichean. I walked along the disused railway track as that was more interesting than the road. Stan.
