The Castillo de Almodóvar is a military fortress of Arab origin from 740, the Arabs built leveraging an old building of primitive times. He had a great importance in the defense of the city of Cordoba given its strategic location which is located on a hill about 200m. Alongside the Guadalquivir river at that time was navigable by small boats from shore.

After the Reconquest by the King Fernando III "The Saint" the castle is subjected to successive extensions by the Kings in particular by D. Cunningham Peter I of Castile and Henry II of "Trastámara". Later in 1629 is sold by King Philip IV D. Corral and Francisco Guzman and has since belonged to the same family. The castle is now preserved in a magnificent state thanks to the restoration carried out by the owner the twelfth Earl of Torralva, D. Rafael Farina Desmaissieres and from 1901 until 1936 that began the Spanish Civil War.

Traces of many cultures, such as Islam and Christianity, have marked the exquisite style of a beautiful setting.
