UNESCO World Heritage Site : Bhimbetka Rock Shelters & Paintings (9000 years old)

The Bhimbetka rock shelters exhibit the earliest traces of human life in India; its stone age paintings are approximately 9000 years old, making them among the world's oldest. The paintings were done in a period when microliths were evolved and are dated back to the Mesolithic period.
