We couldn't believe our luck. It was our 2nd night camping and I guess we were not supposed to camp in this high valley. Just after dawn we heard the stomp of hooves and opened the zip of the flysheet. There was no time to loose we took this photograph as the wild horses veered away from us.
Wonderful! I really like this one, jethrohoyt!
.. um.... last century, c'mon, we aren't that old... ;-)
Greetings from Germany! Inge
Sorry - yes we really are that old!
This photograph was one of a kind and was a find when I had 3,500 negatives scanned for me. I think serendipity would be an understatement!!!
Thank you for your kindness and comments.
That's pretty special, all right! Fantastic shot, and lucky you recovered it.
Yes, its a tragedy how many photographs benefit from a good dollop of luck! Take this one for instancefrom this weekend. We arrived at the side of the lake as this heron arrived at the school of fish he had been eyeing up for some while. He decided we were worth the risk for that lunch platter. He flew off once he managed to get it down, head first and whole.
Nawitka, thanks for your comments and salutations from the USA.
You've had the wild horse experience in the Pyrenees as well! Great capture. My shot was more contrived, knowing that the horse would run in front of the setting sun:
And I think my horses were semi-wild judging by seeing these horses in the same place 7 years later:

A new favorite photo...gold star for this. You can't beat a great horse photo!
Thank you Brian as you can see I attribute this photograph to pure luck with a smattering of serendipity.
All the best to you and yours from North Carolina
I think you are very correct Apojapo ! The only skill in these photographs is being able to press the shutter when the opportunity presents itself.
Warmest greetings from North Carolina
I stumbled on this again by accident. Now I can add the LIKE and star! :D
Thank you Nawitka this still haunts me - in the nicest possible way.
Belle et jolie photographie

Best wishes - David
