Hi Richard. The buildings in this picture belong to the medieval city "Stein am Rhein" (translated something like "stone at the Rhine (river)") and date back to 1540 AD. So everything is perfectly original - with a little bit of conservation, of course. This village is actually the best conserved medieval city of Switzerland after the city of Murten (of which you can find some pictures in my collection, too).
