Sorry to say looks like more space for much needed student accommodation, I do hope that I am wrong. There is a chance one of the old Boiler house chimneys may be saved, only a handfull left in Leicester.
I hope you are wrong too Bob. I remember well the day they demolished the chimney to the Cow & Gate factory in Wincanton. Such a pity! Regards, Rosa.
This is a fascinating shot Bobsky I join Rosa and yourself in hoping the chimney is saved. I've added this to my favourites. Thank you so much for visiting my gallery and your kind comments. I'm so glad that one or two of my photos have inspired you to make visits. Oxcombe (the church with the interesting tower) is secreted behind stable buildings etc in a sequestered valley of the Wolds reached by a road that doesn't go anywhere else. Once there it seems a bit private.
Best wishes, Tim
Thanks for that I have always liked to photographs tall chimneys trees and churches. I love to walk around the many village churchyards and try to capture the memories with my camera and share some of them with others.
Like you say much needed student accommodation, but when they've pulled down all the places of work and the chimneys for this where are the students going to work when they've finished their studies?
Thats the burning question that will be a serious problem for many years to come, so many well educated young people that have no future but to work for Tesco or Mcdonalds.
The chimneys seem to be saying up yours to so called progress. The only thing we appear to make these days is as a laughing stock to the rest of the world.
Up yours is spot on, we all can try to fight progress but money is king. Thanks for your visit to my gallery.
Thanks for the Like.
