Did you superimpose the moon in this shot or was it actually there against that beautiful blue sky? Did you take this picture from an office window of the capitol? From a rooftop across the street with an amazing zoom? Did you climb one of the flagpoles? How did you manage this angle?

Dawn, The photo was done all in one shot with a telephoto lens. There is a time of year when the moon rises almost behind the pioneer and I stood across Court Street a bit west of the capitol and made the exposure. The use of a telephoto lens allowed me to fill the frame with the gold pioneer and made the moon seem much closer. I edited the photo digitally but did not materially alter the scene from the way it was originally shot.
