Seawall in Galveston, Texas.

It was built after a Hurricane of 1900 for protection from future storms. Construction was completed in 1904. Originally 3.3 miles, the seawall is presently 10 miles (16 km) long. It is approximately 17 feet (5.2 m) high, and 16 feet thick at its base.

On the top of the Seawall is a wide promenade, where people, walk, jog or bike while getting a cool breeze from the ocean in the hot season or nasty bone chilling wind in December, as I did.

I know, the seawall is not visible on this shot, but a for a review of this restaurant, there are other sources!
