This is looking back over the complex and the other slopes, which are lit at night

If you're thinking of going here skiing, bear the plus and minus points in mind.

It was lovely. We had the slpoes to ourselves, one week before Christmas, though the skiing is on airly short runs and it's really airly easy. On the top of the mountain, you couldn't hear a thing, no engines, nothing whatsoever. It was lovely. Then you ski'd with no-one else around for most of the day. Again, lovely. By yourselves and no queues to get on the lifts.

The cabins were warm, all the amenities and the TV was pretty goo as most of their stuff is in English with Norwegian subtitles.

But.

There was no apres ski to speak of whatsoever, except the sauna. Which closed at six. So thank God for English TV. And there's probably no apres ski as everything is so very expensive. It's twice the price of England, a small joint of meat costs £15 ($30), infact, everything's just about double what it is in England. Other towns around Gala, pronounced Goh-loh, Harpefoss and Otta have very little in the way of shopping to speak of. So we went to Lillehammer, which was a massive disappointment. And do it all at -15C. I'm very glad I went to Norway, but I won't be going back, because it's just too expensive.
