Greetings Berend*,

This area became special to me in my earliest teaching days when this area became a special fieldwork area for my geography classes.. and it is always a pleasure to return, except in a drought. Then it is depressing. It has been interesting to note the processes and changes that have been going on over those 40+ years.

Dear Maja,

It has been a long time since my close association with this area, and it is possible to fell at home here, though I am more a visitor these days. Country roads have there appeal, whether here on "The Downs" or winding through the Black Forest - something I so much want to do again.

Thanks and greetings, Alan. When are you coming over so I can take you exploring? Sorry that I can only put this reply in your inbox not in your letterbox. Warmest regards,

It is quite amazing how much I find myself thinking about a red pomegranate as I drive our country roads exploring. And when I do my thoughts fly to Istanbul or Anatolia or to an artist's easel in Istanbul. Dear , will it ever be possible that I can take you along roads such as this?

Lovely image and wonderful composition dear Ian, reminds me of a famous song of our folklore that says something like.... “And a village here... and another more there... and a long way that down and is lost...”

Always a pleasure to return to your gallery my friend!!! Like!!!

Best regards, Toto

Part of my heritage is Scottish, Toto and their folklore sings of the roads home to the highlands and as this area is part of our higher country, I find myself humming a Scottish air.. But I guess all of us born in rural areas have a love for country roads born out of familiarity, nostalgia and a love of 'home'.

Warmest regards to you and your family,
