The first known photograph is an image produced in 1826 by Frenchman Joseph Nicephore Niepce, a pewter plate covered with a petroleum derivative called bitumen of Judea photosensitive. Was produced with a camera, and required about eight hours of exposure to sunlight-RYDOJ
