Occupy Galveston, Archive photo or a Christmas Parade???

Non of the above! This is a snapshot from Charles Dickens parade in the historic part of Gaveston called The Strand.

One of the first settlers, after the Karankawa Indians, to arrive in Galveston was "The Pirate of the Mexican Gulf," the notorious Jean Lafitte. Lafitte made Galveston a center of smuggling and privateering. There were a lots of pirates and whores in the parade to reflect on Galveston past!
