In der arabischen Welt wird der Tanz "Raqs Sharqi" (رقص شرقي) genannt. Aufgrund der wörtlichen Übersetzung "Tanz des Ostens", ist die deutsche Bezeichnung "Orientalischer Tanz" korrekt, bezieht sich jedoch nicht auf die Gesamtheit aller orientalischen Folkloretänze des Nahen bis Fernen Ostens, sondern nur auf den
