This statue by Danish sculptor Thordvaldsen represents Nicolas Copernicus, a Polish astronomer famous for creating the heliocentric model of the Solar System. The Chicago statue in front of the Adler Planetarium is a copy of the statue destroyed by Nazzis in Warsaw, Poland and restored after IIWW basing on the model of the statue in Thordvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen. The author of this picture should be congratulated on catching the Moon right at the foot of Copernicus...
