What are they mining Henry, Potash, Phosphate, or Salt? Salt would explain your use of ‘Sodium’ in your title as Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is common table salt?

The building on the left is a potash mine. On the right is a natural gas electrical generating plant which is a newer installation. The title refers to the different color temperatures of the lights used at each facility. The sodium lights have the much warmer glow of around 2,500 degrees Kelvin while mercury lights have a color temperature upwards of 6,000 degrees Kelvin. For those interested, the color temperature refers to the color of light radiated by an "ideal black body radiator", for example a carbon rod, heated to a certain temperature. The rod will start emmitting a red glow at lower temperatures and will change in color as the heat rises through to blue at the upper range of human eye sensitivity.
