I'm sure I know that bloke......... but I don't want to make a fool of myself Sixten so I'll wait for others to go first.

(But if its not Comrade Lenin, it sure does look like him a lot).

OOops, I may have given it away!

You really knew who you were talking about, Jethro. This modest size Lenin portrait is from the USSR times and their revolution festivities in -89. So one of the last real posters of a kind, not any 007 movie set piece. You can see this also in the b/w Red Square photo.

wow, sixten, that's quite an image. Definitely something you don't see every day!

Now that's a blast from the past! I could see why they call it Red Square. Thanks for sharing this wonderful image.

Thank you very much for the comments, Kevin and Ken. It would have been more than useful to read some Panoramio photo tricks before this journey. Unfortunately it did not occurred to me :)

Very nice image, like 5!

Very original, I like the shade of red and the proportion against the truck!

Thank you very much, Vic. One of the best moments here is when someone comments just the things you have thought when shooting the photo. Very nice weekend to you! - sixten_imgs

Haven't seen this guy for ages... Looks very different from how I remember his images (all over the place, naturally!) Thank you for posting!

Sixten Imgs Nothisvi… on March 17, 2012

Thank you, theverbiage. Sorry about being curious but can't help wondering if you were talking about media coverage or personal memories...

Personal... Born and raised deep behind the Iron Curtain.

Umm, reading your question again, I got a different understanding - no, not that kind of "personal"! I missed the bloke himself by about 50 years :)))

Nice and important document of history... I found some relicts of these days in Jurmala, couple of years after the settings was changed.
