Big car or small house?... obviously no garage! Sailor Jerry in NOLA.

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Good work ain't cheap; cheap work ain't good reads the inscription on this car. Parked on Charters, one of the main New Orleans streets. Probably Chevrolet Impala between 1958-59.(longest Chevy ever made!)

This classic Cajun Cottage house is probably 100 years older (around 1800).

For sale at $399,000 (only 1 bedroom, 1 bath) or $2000/month rent.

Info from PIT58 This Car A Legend...

1958 Chevrolet Impala

The year 1958 was the first year of the Impala. It started out as a model package for the Bel Air, but was more impressive. It came in two different body styles, a convertible and a sport coupe.

It had Impala script, insignia and crossed flag emblems on the front of the hood, ribbed body sill panels, large chrome air scoops ahead of rear wheels on the fenders, a competition style deep two spoke steering wheel with Impala medallions, and Impala script on the dash. It also had six taillights giving it a distinct look over all other Chevrolets. .....................................................................

Thanks Peter for the additional info.

I do not know much about cars, for me it is only important it gets me from A to B.

But I do appreciate the design and all the craziness of the fifties.

Mirko, help your self, but you have to jump start.

Excelent photo and title! - Greetings from Athens.

Super shot Tomas. I believe it is a 1959 Chevy, which was famous for its "bat wing" rear fenders and "cat's eye" taillamps. The 1958 Chevy had tail fins were circumsized. Like Best regards, Michael

These are the BOATS of yesterday!!!! (at least the car sizes were as big as boats!!!). Actually, the car is almost as wide as the house!!!!! I love the inscriptions. Also remember don't Drink+Drive!!! Great catch dear friend Tomas!!

Tomros on March 9, 2012

I think the inscription do not drink and drive is because Sailor Jerry is also name of a rum!

Thanks a lot for visit, like (83) and the latest Faves from Mirko, Crits, Pit58, Stevia, Spyros
