This wonderful golden beach is about 5 km in length and is swept clean by the powerful tides twice each day. Fishing and surfing are popular activities..The distant promontory is called Sandsend Ness!

Hi Jim. Great sky, and so atmospheric! Water and sand melting into one another, and not a soul in sight; mesmeric! Martin

Of all the places I visit, this beach is amongst my favourites..The precious memories this place holds for me dates back to the 1940's when I played here in the sand with my bucket and spade as a small child..It has been a source of pleasure for me and my family since those far off days..I still feel child-like when I walk along the beach!

cjlin~~~~I feel that too dear friend!

PIT58~~~Thanks for your thoughtful appraisal Peter :)

top spotter~~~It's great to see you here Alan, many of my special friends have stopped by during my enforced absence and others have re-appeared to welcome me back to the fold..I'm glad to be back and delighted that you chose to save this to your favourites!

Stuart Murphy~~~A warm welcome Stuart :)...I have long since been of the opinion that the simplest shots are quite often the most enjoyable..Photography is more about light and shadow than substance ;)

Jack Tol~~~Well Jack, I can only offer you my sincere thanks for your numerous visits to my gallery, It has been a pleasure to read your more than generous praise! Your'e a star Jack, thank you!

ButsYV~~~~I welcome you to my big Yorkshire sky _Yuri ;) Nothing changes the scene more dramatically than the ever changing features in the sky! Especially over the sea and sand!

Anupam Mukherjee~~~Once more Anupam, I thank you sincerely for your precious feedback and friendly visit ;)

Martin Hession~~~Greetings Martin..This is one of the best beaches along the Yorkshire coast and it is covering a lot of sand, especially at low tide..There is room here for everyone and their dogs!----Wind surfers, Kite surfing and plain surfing is popular here when the conditions are good! I could take a different photo from here every day and it would not look the same..

Denni Gregory~~~It's great to see you Denni :) I've missed you especially..thanks for the warm welcome :))

Clive on Beara~~~~I make no apology here for taking a "leaf from your book" on the use of available light Clive~~~~~I learned to appreciate that sometimes, more is less...You have the gift of seeing this special light in the landscape and I liked that ;) In learning the trick, I have incorporated the lesson into my own camera work! Many thanks for the inspiration and YSL!

_I'm delighted for all your amazing comments guys, it is a pleasure to receive so much positive feedback._*

To each of you, I express my profound thanks for your visits, your precious comments, "Likes", especially the Y*, but mostly, for taking the time to look :)

Kind regards everyone

Love these wistful northern colours dear Jim ~ so nice you are back! What happened to your I-net?

Warmest of greetings ~ Maja

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on March 12, 2012

cindy555~~~Thanks Marion, the light was so subtle, reflecting off the wet sand and thrown back to the sky. Not so many years ago, I would not have given this view another thought...It is much to the credit of Panoramio members that have I learned to see with different eyes!

beegood~~~~I'm beginning to like them myself Maja :)) I'm glad to be back too! It is not until one is deprived of something they took for granted that the value and significance really matters! I did feel very isolated when the internet provider left me in the doldrums for two whole months...All of my accounts are only accessible via the internet so it has been a worrying time..I never thought that I would ever have to say that!

Thanks for stopping dear friends..I enjoyed your visit!

Great atmosphere and wonderful composition. Welcome home, Like+favorite! Thanks for sharing. Best regards from Taiwan.

Genevieve M. on March 17, 2012

Hello dear Jim, thanks for your nice comment on my driftwood on the beach. In winter, this is the sea which sculpts the beach, and brings a lot of natural decorations! Magnificent shot of the Northern Sea, very different atmosphere... The composition is superb with the distant promontory, and the changing sky is fascinating, big like 15 ♥ and YS 4 ♥ for this superb view! Friendly regards from France, Geneviève

I love this colours of beautiful Sea side...great photo *Jim...F+L....!!!

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on March 30, 2012

MF(Meditation Falcon…~~~I greet you warmly MF and thank you kindly for your generous praise..especially for the YSL

Genevieve M~~~Your thoughtful words, YSL and glowing praise means a lot to me Gene', more so since you are also intimately familiar with the seashore and those wind-swept, wide open spaces of the Carmargue :)

elva712~~~A very warm welcome Elva :) I'm so happy that you enjoyed this photo my friend..The image is uncomplicated and atmospheric since it conveys the simple pleasures of walking along the sea-shore over virgin shingle, within earshot of thundering surf. Feeling the wind in your hair and that undeniable pleasure of freedom! Your YSL means a great deal to me, thank you :)

To you all, I express my profound thanks for your friendly visits, your words of praise and encouragement without which, none of this would matter :)

Kind regards!
