Quiet, Church Zone!

Early morning in front of St. Luis Cathedral, few musicians get together, even before the tourist hit the street (except me). They are warming up with few hot ‘licks’ on the 'licorice stick' (clarinet in English) and hot beverage.

All people who are playing the streets in New Orleans Old Quarter are good enough to play any club in your town. Here, they are playing for peanuts… Enlarge to read the sign.

As far as New Orleans go, the Quiet! sign is not entforced. They actually have jazz music inside the catedral.

I missed one concert, by one day. They had several performances of Christmas music in New Orleans style in December.

You see various musicians, entertainers in the late morning walking towards Vieux Carre in the hope, that there will be enough generous tourist, so the can have some change for their food and rent.

With so many great musicians in one place, it is truly survivor of the best and smartest, yet there is a great camaraderie in the musician community.
