Fallen Star

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The majestic old Benedictine Abbey continues to attract my attention so I could not resist taking another shot..A full moon, partially hidden behind some clouds, gave some extra light. A long exposure and manual focus helped to deliver a pleasing result..Despite all the criticism regarding the Pentax K7's low light level performance, I am reasonably happy with the result..Please feel free to add your own opinions! I thank my friend nanoinca for the idea of the title :)

Awesome night shot Axota! like I like the spooky atmosphere :D I tried to catch a full-moon shot myself on Saturday but it took for ever till it came and by that time my battery was flat :( Thanks for sharing this awesome photo and for pointing it out to me. Best regards, Barbara

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on March 13, 2012

Denni Gregory~~~So it is spooky Denni..

It was a lot spookier than this at almost midnight, all alone, in the pitch black, on Abbey Lane. Clinging precariously to the old stone wall to get the shot I wanted..I don't believe in spooks Denni, but if there were such creatures, this is where you'd find em'

Christos Theodorou~~~~I thank you kindly for your appreciation Christos :)

Faintlightofdawn~~~Greetings Fain :)~~~I know the old Abbey is done to death and it is difficult to find a different slant on it but I thought it was worth a try..As for moving, ten yards!! that's all Fain!! It might as well have been to another planet..never again!!! The trouble and inconvenience is just too much..Anyway, things are almost back to normal, thanks for your nice comment!

Kind regards to you both!

baba49~~~A very warm welcome Barbara :)) I overlooked your comment earlier and have just realised my error! I was waiting for the full moon too! It's a pity about that cloud cover..The preceding nights had been perfectly clear..There will be plenty more opportunities, I hope

Many thanks for your friendly visit and thoughtful comment!

Ian Stehbens on March 13, 2012

Just when I think you have created all the perfect images of the abbey that are possible you present us with another remarkable photo, Jim. Brilliant.

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on March 13, 2012

Ian Stehbens~~~~It's always a pleasure to have you visit these pages Ian and knowing just how understated your comments are I take much inspiration from your generous appraisal...

I try not to take photos of the old Abbey..There are more than the world could ever need, but its magic draws me inexorably to capture that fleeting moment in time that will never occur again..Maybe that's the lure!

Thanks once again for your appreciation!
