Even on New Year's Day, the showplough was hard at work! "The Victory School" was built in 1919.

What a pretty little school with big windows for the light or some dreamers to watch what happens outside… ;)

You seem to have a lot more snow than we do in the region, where I live, though in the mountains they have heaps too.

Greetings, May

I read this, May, but I see that I never replied! I can almost see this school from the window of my home office: I can see the school yard and the flagpole! It is two and a half short blocks down the street from our house, and our two sons went to school here. But I never appreciated its architecture until a few years ago when it was one of a number of buildings open one day for tours, and I helped out by spending a few hours at the welcome desk. It has many lovely details that I hope to photograph sometime. The day I took this, however, there was ice underneath the snow that was being ploughed, and I decided to wait until it was safer to walk!

Greetings, Marilyn

They sure look very similar Marilyn :) but yours does have a move inhabited look to it! ;)

Cananda wide the schools, in that time period, all seem to use the same architect and very similar plans (we have a number in town that also look pretty close...though a couple have recently been demolished). :(

Our section of Guelph now has an older population and not as many children as it used to, but this is not one of the schools that have been closed. I'm not sure about now, but at least in the past, they've used some of the space for French immersion classes for a wider part of the city. (There is a newer section at the back, but that's all relative: it was already there when we moved here in 1966.)

Sounds similar to my neighbourhood Marilyn. This is the elementary school my children attended and it's now closed (just this passed fall). :'( It was also a French Immersion school (as well as ESL).
