Looks ex military
The walls are very thick and I thought at first it had to be military, but I have been checking old maps and the internet and the only thing I can find at this spot is "Air Shaft". Maybe it housed a pumping engine in the early 20th century. It is in a central point to about three old pits.
More 'n likely yer reet, auld sonna! unlikely it was a bank vault or explosives store!
I love this a lot, I added this to my favorites as well as adding to my likes...
Wow! Thanks Rafael. It is amazing what you can find within a mile of home.
I think there was once an RAF Station at Cramlington (may have even been WW1) Being a bit of an airfield 'anorak' myself, I think it look military. Balst shelter? Some thing like that. I hope this helps..
Thanks duosdaddy. I eventually found out it was an abandoned mine shaft.
