The Medieval Street of Church Ponds
Selected for Google Earth [?] - ID: 68523642
The delightful colour-washed cottages along this little street are not only attractive, but also very old. Small though they are, many of these dwellings date back to the 1300s(notice the leaning chimney). The street itself follows the exact route of the very first street that was here in the 12th century. Many of the small streets in the heart of this charming Essex village follow the contours of the old buildings and churchyard, because they are paved on top of the original streets put here when the church was built in 1140 A.D. Not much has changed, other than horse and wagon being replaced by motorcycles, cars and trucks.

Very interesting. I've seen this kind of street in some historical English movies. Like.
