I hope you didn't sign for dilapidations.

Nick Weall on March 20, 2012

nah not me ~ I bought it for the lead on the roof, but someone get there first ~ it has a stumpy little tower ~ but must have been a real fancy Abbey once upon a time ~

Andy Rodker on March 20, 2012

I agree with the above-mentioned Panoramoist - good perspective (I believe he used a different term altogether).

I know a fair bit about Crowland as it formed part of the thesis that a fellow student (the only one on my course apart from me - so I got to know his works quite well) did for his finals and he had to pass me sections of it (the thesis that is, not the Abbey, although that would have been quite possible as you can see from the photo)for critical analysis. For what it's worth I had to do the same with my study of the economy of rural Surrey in the 14th and 15th centuries. (If you've read this far, you won't be surprised to know he got a first and I didn't).

Anyway, I digress (R Corbett, circa 1978),

Lovely photo! Like.

Best, Andy

nadiakushnir Thank you for your kind words and like dearest Nadia :~)

Andy Rodker ~ Ah ha so you are a history buff Andy ~ I'm just a superficial snap taker, who enjoys the architecture and general atmosphere of the place ~ I can appreciate that this must have been a very imposing structure in its time ~ Thanks for another like and your compliments ~ Best wishes ~ nick

Sarah O, ~ I have already explained all that :))) Dearest Sarah in my previously reply to you just now. I was extremely lucky with the weather and light. Plus I was also lucky to notice it lying across a few fields to the left of the road I was driving along. It seemed to be a lovely place ~ I wish I had had longer to explore ~ All the very best to you QofC ~ and a hug ~ nick
