Received suggestion: The picture of St Matthew's shows the parish church of Walsall around which the town of Walsall originated. The town 'centre' has become established further down the hill over the years but this was the original centre of the community. The location given as 'Bescot' is innacurate because it lies aproximatly a mile away as the crow fies. Bescot is better known as the location of the new football stadium and the ultra modern high tech RAC M6/M5 Motorway monitoring headquarters.
