Aconcagua west face at sunset from base camp in Plaza de Mulas

Wonderful colours, great composition, Juha, but a surprising shot for me... Looks like a little climbing exercise for beginners, but not like a mountain almost 7000 m high. ;-)) Greetings, Peter

You are right Peter, when you are very close to a big mountain, the sight is foreshortened. This simply means that everything seems to be closer and smaller than it really is. You notice this when you start climbing... This photo was taken at a height of 4200 meters from the basecamp. The actual summit is the second "bump" from the left which seems to be lower than the point on the west face to it's right. It takes three full climbing days from basecamp to the summit, weather permitting.

You mean, the hard part was carrying the camera up? ;-) I'm not so much in hillhiking, nevertheless hiking but you can see some pics from Ben Nevis and in this time my Mamiya was around 12kk
