Danby at sunset.

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I have often looked at this shot and passed it by out of loathing from cars and other unwanted objects in the way but I relented here since I think it has a little something that I like regardless. I just hope the owners of the once vivid coloured cars like their new desaturated versions :o)

I'm sure they will, Sam. Like. One reason I like it is because it reminds me of Chalfont St Peter in the Chilterns. DON'T LAUGH! Please bear me out....In this light (which you've caught beautifully), many places succumb to a sense of time (dawn?) rather than place as the prime feeling I think and this is reflected here (imho). Best wishes, Andy.

OK. just checked the time this shot was taken; evening, not dawn! But my theory still holds (to me anyway!). Best, Andy

Well Andy the clue was in the title my friend :o) but you got there eventually.

Whatever time or place if you like it that's what matters most. Cheers !

Nice trick Sam I have the same loathing for cars and a similar one for wires and street lamps. I would have been tempted to clone them out but its never perfect. Desaturation works well.

They shouldn't be allowed to park there Sam,especially when there's a camera addict about;-) I would have had the same opinion as Kenny, but now i know about desaturation its a far better option especially here. Its a nice scene mate, but as you said, there's always cars parked there, but toning them down has made this a nice picture;-)

Cheers Kenny & Neil, I'm pleased to read my minimising the car effect has worked sufficiently well. It's crazy how we would approve of a horse and cart stood in view but the mechanical replacement looks so wrong.

Cheers lads.

I was so eager to look at the picture that the mere words at the top were a distraction to be by-passed with alacrity.

Or so I try to convince myself.

But, at the end of the day (er... sunset?), I can only conclude that I am a D..khead. (What am I?).

Oh well, Cheers anyway!

Best wishes, Andy

Act in haste repent at leisure as they say, that alacrity isn't all it's cracked up to be :o)
