Thanks so much, Annick - but I am having real trouble trying to locate this waterhole on Google Earth. It will be there somewhere. It deserves to be located. There's so much open space, and so many channels, but I have to find it! Ian

Ah, I have located the billabong on GE! The simple problem was that the landowner has cleared the land and raked it of all trees except for those on the banks of the billabong. In my photo the raking striations on the land are still very evident. One lonely billabong may still be lonely out there, and feeling very denuded..but at least it is no longer lost for we can find it now. I think it deserves a song: Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, under the shade of a coolibah tree, and he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, "You'll come a waltzing, Matilda, with me. . Up jumped the squatter, early one morning, Down came the contractor's machinery, "Clear all bloody timber, we've got to improve this land! Just leave Matilda's watering hole." . Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me, And a ghost may be heard as you come to this waterhole, sighing 'They've taken my waltzing Matilda, from me.'" Apologies to AB Patterson.
