St. Michael's Mount was once a monastery - the English counterpart to Mont Saint Michel in Normandy - then a castle. The neo- gothic part you see here was built in the 19th century.

It's a tidal island, so usually you take the boat one way and the other you can walk the causeway. It's fun!
