It is one of the earliest cities to be established in Queensland, Mariano and it developed around the small wharf built beside the deeper water on the outside of this bend. The green sugar cane cultivation on the floodable land around the city dresses this historic city attractively.
Thanks for your appreciation of the photo.
Great shot and beautiful shadows from the trees into the river Ian. LIKE! Greetings Berend
Your appreciation of the geography of the river is very accurate. Though the river here is tidal and is somewhat controlled by dredging and retaining walls, the problem that Maryborough has faced through its history is flooding. Nowadays it is pretty well adjusted to flooding, even major flooding.
I appreciate your real interest in the landscape as well as the photos, Mariano.
Thanks and best wishes from Queensland,
I was pleased to be able to photograph Maryborough, and especially this view of the the historic portside precinct from where the city developed. Back in 1865, and in 1886, two families of my ancestors disembarked at the small wharf just upstream of the moored yachts, so it is a significant location for me.
The long shadows are early morning ones, so we were having great photographic opportunities.
Great shot of my home-town.
I like it very much.
I am glad it is appreciated, Hugo. There will be more uploaded from that flight.
Thank's, looking forward to that
