Beautiful colours! Yellow star on this photo. And could you explain how you do it?! I've tried and tried for lightning shots and never managed a decent one.

Thankyou Phoenix! :-) You have to watch the weather and position yourself in a favourable location for good photos. The settings for this photo were apeture priority set at f8. The shutter speed was about 2.5 seconds from memory and I kept shooting till the roll of film ran out. The lightning was very frequent and I caught about 8 bolts in 36 frames. Digital is a little different but the camera settings remain the same.

Regards Jeff.

Thank you very much Jeff! :) Now all I have to do is wait until summer to try it...

Jeff,

You have an impressive collection! I really love the lightening shots. we don't get many here in Western Oregon. Do you use a lightening detector or do you just set the shutter on bulb and hope of a bolt to strike in the field of view?

Yellow star for me!

keep on shooting and sharing..

Michael..

Thankyou Michael :-)

For my lightning shots I mostly shoot on dusk or after dark and shoot with long shutter speeds. I don't use a lightning detector. I use ND filters in the day with close storms to try and get slow shutter speeds.

Regards Jeff.
