極楽寺は、神奈川県鎌倉市極楽寺にある真言律宗の寺院。山号は、「霊鷲山」。詳名を「霊鷲山感応院極楽寺」と称する。本尊は、釈迦如来。開基（創立者）は北条重時。開山は忍性（にんしょう）である。

鎌倉市の西部、鎌倉七口の1つである極楽寺坂切通しの近くにある、鎌倉では珍しい真言律宗の寺院である。僧忍性が実質的な開祖である。中世には子院49箇院を有する大寺院であった。

Gokurakuji is a temple of the Buddha's preach about truth Ritsu sect in Gokurakuji, Kamakurashi, Kanagawa. The mountain "soul Washiyama." I name 詳名 "House of soul Washiyama response Gokurakuji". The core is Buddha. The open basis (a founder) is Shigetoki Hojou. The founder is 忍性 (I carry a person on my back).

It is the temple of the Buddha's preach about truth Ritsu sect that it is unusual in Kamakura that there is near the Land of Happiness Terasaka sunken road which is the western part of Kamakurashi, one of seven shares of Kamakura. 僧忍性 is a substantial initiator. It was ex-Emperor cathedral having 49 annex 箇院 in the Middle Ages.
