There are lots of interesting details in this picture if you have time to enlarge it...This stretch of the river Tees has only been accessible to the general public for a few decades..Until the 1980's, this was not a pretty place..The river was extremely polluted and there were only rough tracks. The elegant bridge over the Tees in the distance was built around 1975 and once opened, it freed the huge bottleneck of traffic whose flow was constricted by poor roads and antiquated bridges
This area of many hectares is now a clean and pleasant landscape, popular with walkers, cyclists and joggers! The picture comprises 12 separate frames.
One of the best walks along the banks of the lower Tees. The river, once the most polluted in the UK, now supports a burgeoning stock of Atlantic salmon that spawn many miles upstream in unpolluted gravel beds. Harbour seals are often seen here, in the tidal range, picking off the huge shoals of migrating fish that accumulate just below the Tees Barrage prior to breeding.
