This image is taken looking eastward along an artificial channel. The spoil has been used to build the small artificial island on the right of the picture. There is a similar channel on the other side of the island. In the distance was a small fetid pool of water. This hosted a remnant population of Western long necked tortises. They were moved in April 2007 to avoid total extinction. There is a short online essay by myself describing my January 2007 visit to the seriously degraded area at http://fremantlebiz.livejournal.com/259717.html

The default title on the Google Earth position says near Applecross NSW, when it should be Applecross, Western Australia. It has defied my attempts to change it, even to near Fremantle. I'll chase the matter up with Google admin. PW.
